MNEMOSYNE - Final presentation by Nuria González Alcaide
Memory, in Aristotle's opinion, “is what has already happened. Memory is neither a sensation nor a judgment, but a state or affection when time has passed in one of them”. It is as if the senses left an imprint on the soul, and the memory is responsible for evoking them, once the sensation has passed.
Mnemosyne is a project that dissects and reassembles the shades of Nuria’s memory, where she relives and interprets them into objective sensations in which color is all that is left. Memories are deconstructed into transparent brushstrokes, filled with vibrancy and life, reflecting the essence of different locations. By isolating and reinterpreting these color palettes, the project seeks to create a unique dialogue between place and memory.
Each installation is a journey into Nuria's inner world, inviting viewers to experience the interplay between memory, color, and space. The works are not just representations of external environments but are also deeply introspective, revealing the layers of personal history and emotional landscapes that shape her own perception of the world.
